INTRODUCTION:

The technology employed in the projecting of prosthesis systems and medical devices has reached nowadays a high level. It is possible to restore locomotory function of patients with very good results. The use of these systems is often hindered either by the lack of tissue or unfavourable conditions surrounding the area of the grafting site. BiOTECK®, a leading Italian company in the deantigenic systems field, has specialised in the production of bio-materials of animal origin. A possibility is offered by the application of an innovative system (patented by the BiOTECK® laboratories) whi-ch allows antigens to be eliminated from any bone tissue (Universal Bone Tissue Treatment U.B.T.T.®). Pre formed tissues from the FLEX range of products derive from the manufacturing of the OSTEOPLANT® bone tissue. Main feature of the FLEX bone tissue is its ability to flex and to adapt to the grafting site. This characteristics is particularly useful in the facial-cranial area surgery.
The uneven morphology of these si-tes has necessitated to use synthetic products which are probably not optimal when combining surgery with cosmetics. The demineralisation phase during the manufacturing process allows to obtain a flexible bone tissue which does not crumble or break and which is easily adaptable to anatomic profiles. For the FLEX tissue production, BiOTECK® uses bone tissue from equine origin. Due to its characteristics, the equine is the only mammal able to offer an ideal bone tissue in large enough quantities, for the OSTEOPLANT® manufacturing and the following transformation into FLEX .

INDICATION:
Is advised to:   
-Treat skeletal apparatus bone defects not subjected to weight bearing
-Treat cranial/facial bone defects
-Fix OSTEOPLANT® tissue  

Contraindication:
The product should not be used in bone cavities presenting infections. Before proceeding with the surgical grafting clean and treat the site with medicaments.
